About: The text for this piece was the winning poem of the RealNewMusic poetry competition 2010, written by Karlyn Louise Risher. This piece was conceived as a duet for two instruments – the oboe and soprano voice. As such, I maintained an equality between both parts in portraying the poem. The concept of writing a piece using a contest-winning poem was fascinating. It was also interesting to see how my composition would be stretched as I was limited to writing the piece for my own instrument (oboe), and soprano.
